Public Notice - Proposed Vehicle Length Restriction Ordinance

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of the Township of East Hanover, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, intends to consider for adoption and to vote upon enactment of an Ordinance entitled and summarized hereinafter at its regularly scheduled meeting to be held on June 6, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., at the East Hanover Township Municipal Building, located at 8848 Jonestown Road, Grantville, Pennsylvania 17028. The title of the proposed Ordinance is:

AN ORDINANCE OF EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, PROHIBITING THE OPERATION OF TRUCKS, TRUCK TRACTORS, AND TRUCKS WITH TRAILERS EXCEEDING A SPECIFIED LENGTH ON A PORTION OF EARLYS MILL ROAD, FIREHOUSE ROAD, RIDGE ROAD, SHADY LANE, SHELLS CHURCH ROAD, AND SOUTH MEADOW LANE IN THE TOWNSHIP OF EAST HANOVER, DAUPHIN COUNTY

A summary of the proposed Ordinance is as follows:

An Ordinance authorizing and approving provisions to prohibit the operation of trucks, truck tractors, and trucks with trailers exceeding 45 feet in length on certain highways and roadways in East Hanover Township; authorizing and approving the posting of said restrictions on portions of Earlys Mill Road, Firehouse Road, Ridge Road, Shady Lane, Shells Church Road, and South Meadow Lane; providing an exception for Emergency Vehicles, School buses, trucks, truck tractors or trucks with trailers owned or operated by the Township, vehicles making local deliveries, and recreational vehicles owned and operated by a Township property owner or resident; allowing the Township to temporarily suspend the restrictions of this Ordinance by resolution for a fixed or unfixed period of time; providing a penalty of $500.00 for each violation upon conviction of summary proceeding; and providing when this Ordinance shall become effective.
